With rapid social changes, increasing service demands and increased complexity of social problems, our social welfare sector is now facing greater challenges than ever before. As professional social workers, we are responsible for continuing our education so as to provide effective intervention to assist the needy persons to help themselves.

 

In view of such, the Education Committee of our Association, with an aim to enhance the professional development and the continuing education of social workers, has organized around 30 to 50 training courses each year. Moreover, in order to meet various training needs of our fellow social workers, we have provided different types of training in terms of short courses, workshops, seminars and certificate courses, etc.

 

Despite the fact that many social workers may feel exhausted after work, we are still willing to strive for professional excellence by committing ourselves in continuing education. Thus, we especially develop a special scheme named “ACE” Professional Development Scheme, where A stands for Achievement, C for Competence and E for Excellence. The main objective of which is to encourage our colleagues to upkeep their professionalism by attending the Association’s training programmes continuously. We will provide three different types of certificate for those who have received specific number of hours in our training courses within 12 months. Details of the Scheme are as follows:

 

1)      Certificate of Achievement will be issued for having completed at least 12 hours of training;

2)      Certificate of Competence will be issued for having completed at least 24 hours of training;

3)      Certificate of Excellence will be issued for having completed at least 36 hours of training.
