Conference for Chinese Communities 2009 (Sponsored by Y.F. HUI Social Work Trust Fund)

With great effort in soliciting partnering organizer in Mainland, the Social Work Conference for Chinese communities under the joint venture of the Association and Nankai University was finally carried out during November 30 to December 2 in Tianjin.

The theme of the Conference was “Sustainable Development & Social Work: Practice and Way Ahead”. There were 50 delegates from Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore together with 93 participants from Mainland China joining the Conference. Participants either from academic field or social service organizations were active in presenting papers and deliberating ideas on the latest development of social work in their countries. Since 33 universities in the Mainland will be launching their MSW program in 2010, a half day seminar was particularly designed to invite the heads or responsible professors of respective university from Hong Kong and Taiwan to share on this subject. Meanwhile, a few universities in the Mainland approached the Association for partnership in organizing the next Conference, probably in 2011.
