Workshop on Innovative Approaches in Social Work Practice for Social Work Students and Young Social Workers co-organized by the Association and Graduate College of Social Work at the University of Houston, Texas, USA was held during the 2010 Joint World Conference.  The workshop was held on 12 June. It aimed to provide an opportunity to broaden the participants’ horizon on the diversity and malleability of Social Work practice approaches.

It was our honor to invite experts from USA, Taiwan and Hong Kong. They are, a team from University of Houston, USA, who are working and responding the needs of Chinese in America society with Creative Approach, a group of Taiwan Kaohsiung Youth Volunteers who is working for promoting the empowerment project, Mr. TANG Kwong Yue Alan who is an expertise on working with elderly with Music Therapy and Mr. LEUNG Wing Kit Grad who is experienced and expert in Theater Art. They shared their unique perspectives with more than 70 participants from all over the world within one and a half hour.  They also had some interactive sharing throughout the workshop.  We hope that such kind of international workshops for social work students can be held more frequently in the future.
